Kyle Peters - Coach

Hometown: Northfield, OH

Why CrossFit? It fills the competitive side of me. And it continues to take me out of my comfort zone whether it be pushing passed exhaustion during a workout or moving a weight that I previously didn’t think I could.

I have always wanted to: Travel to Italy, take in all of the sights and cuisine.

When I’m not at CFD, you can find me:  Out with friends, family or volunteering at my church.

Favorite food: Ribs and of course pizza. Also any food that ends in the sound “itos” think about it…

Song that gets me pumped for a workout: “Got Paper” – Lecrae, and some kind of rap with a good beat to get me hyped.

Proudest accomplishment: I take pride in seeing CFD members smash their goals inside and outside of the walls of the gym. That’s where my joy comes from and makes me strive to become a better coach each day.

Nicky Murray Turco - Coach

CFD_NickyTurco

Hometown: I suppose it’s Shaker Heights, I’ve been here on and off since 1987.

Why Crossfit? I plateaued at my previous gym and wanted more. I knew CrossFit would challenge me so I made the jump to CFD. Every day I was terrified walking into the gym, but then I got it and now it’s become an integral part of my life – both physically and mentally. CrossFit has become a passion and I’m now thrilled to be coaching others in this awesome community.

Favorite WOD, Lift, or Movement:  Any WOD with rest in it! Or without running. Give me some rope climbs, box jumps, handstand push-ups and GHDs and I am a happy girl.

I have always wanted to:  Travel. Everywhere. I have seen lots of places, but I want to immerse myself in every country possible. My to-do list is still pretty long.

Someone would be surprised to know: I never worked out a day in my life until I was 35.

Favorite food: I love all food. My grandmother’s meatballs and sauce. Nachos. Geraci’s pizza. I like pickled jalepenos on everything. Hence why I work out 5+ times a week!

Words to live by (or favorite quote): “You must be the change you want to see in the world” – Ghandi

Gordon Ip - Coach

Hometown: Oakland, California

When I’m not at CFD you can find me… Making continuous trips to the grocery store for one item. And on my PS4. Add me! (PSN: Kaeyo)

Someone would be surprised to know: I grew up quite overweight and I am still very much a fat kid at heart. There is a constant struggle within to stay balanced in food choices; both resisting the urge to splurge and being too restrictive on myself.

Favorite food: I genuinely love all foods and cuisines. I do have a favorite snack (it’s a borderline addiction) that I try not to eat multiple times a day: Flaming Hot Fritos (not to be mistaken with Cheetos!)

Proudest Accomplishment: Whenever someone accomplishes a personal best, moves better, or further progresses in their goals- whether inside or outside the gym- it inspires me to continue to progress as a coach and as an athlete. The feeling I get knowing that I had a hand in those accomplishments is the reason I love being a coach.
